Am I My Brother’s Keeper? African-American Men and the Pursuit of Health and Wellness

Friday, July 31
10:30 am - 11:45 am

African-American males living in urban areas are exposed to higher rates of trauma than any other group. Yet there is an alarming lack of discussion around what kind of support they need. Esteemed panel members will work to fill that void with innovative ideas about community-based approaches that encourage African-American male physical, mental, social and economic wellness. Speakers will emphasize poverty, violence, post-traumatic stress and their collateral effects, and assess proposed solutions such as President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Initiative.
